VPHI TRAVEL AWARD FOR THE VPH CONFERENCE 2024
The VPHi Institute will give Travel Vouchers to student members that are applying to participate at the VPH2024 Conference in Stuttgart.
The VPHi Institute will give up to 6 Travel Vouchers to student members that are applying to participate at the VPH2024 Conference in Stuttgart, Germany, to support them with travel, accommodation and living expenses during the Conference.
Any VPHi student member who is submitting an abstract to the Conference is eligible to apply and will be evaluated by the Award Committee.
The Travel Voucher consists of a Certificate and a 500€ prize to be used for travel, accommodation and living expenses during the VPH2024 Conference, which will take place from 4 to 6 September 2024 in Stuttgart.

Each student will have to send:
- A copy of the abstract submitted and accepted to the Conference as first author
- An application letter including information about the applicant (full name, address, nationality, age, information regarding their present position and institution, name and address of the academic adviser) and justification of the travel grant request (why they wish to apply for it; what would be the benefit for the student; how crucial it is to have to the travel award for participating to the conference)
- A copy of their CV
- Proof of VPHi membership status*

You are considered a rightful student member:

- if you have already applied for a student membership and paid your membership fee for 2024 (check you personal area by logging in here). Please make sure your membership is in good standing before applying for this award.
You are considered eligible if:
- You are a VPHi Student member in good standing for 2024
- You submitted an abstract as first author
- Your abstract has been accepted for oral presentation
- Only applications that fullfill all the eligibility criteria will be taken into consideration.
- Based on the scores assigned to the abstracts during the peer-review, the Committee Chair will extract a shortlist of the highest-scoring papers (taking into consideration merit, gender balance, diversity of scientific areas and provenance from low- and middle-income country).
- The shortlist and abstracts will be forwarded to the appointed Award Committee members, along with detailed rating criteria and scoresheets.
- The Award Committee will provide notification of the awards in sufficient time for the awardees to arrange Conference attendance.
- One week before the conference at the latest, the Awardee’s supervisors will be requested to send to roberta@vph-institute.org a signed statement that acknowledges:
- their awareness of the amount of money granted to the Awardee,
- that the award money will be effectively used to cover costs associated with the participation of the Awardee to the conference.
Failure to comply with this point will automatically cancel the award.
The award presentation will take place during the Closing Ceremony of the VPH2024 Conference. The award money will be transferred to the winners shortly after the congress, via bank transfer.
The VPHi members will be informed about the winners in the monthly VPHi newsletter and on all other channels.
You can apply within 2 weeks from receiving the notification of paper acceptance for oral presentation.
Call for Best VPHi Student award 2024
Application deadline 31 July 2024
The “Best VPHi student award” aims to reward the outstanding work submitted by VPHi student members to the VPHi Conference. The award consists of a certificate and money price of €500. An ad hoc award committee will be established, chaired by Jerome Noailly (UPF) from the VPHi student committee.
All the VPHi student members that have been selected for an oral presentation at the VPH2024 conference are eligible for participation. In addition, each student will have to send:
- a brief curriculum vitae
- a statement signed electronically by the student’s supervisor that the applicant is a deserving candidate and has not obtained a doctorate at the time of the Conference
- a copy of the accepted abstract for VPH2024
This information will have to be sent by email to: roberta@vph-institute.org. The evaluation will be based on the quality of the abstract and of the presentation given at the conference.

VPHi Best Poster Award 2024
All VPHi student members bringing a poster to the VPH2024 Conference will be automatically considered for the VPHi Best Poster Award that consists of a Certificate and a 350€ money prize.
All VPHi student members bringing a poster to the VPH2024 Conference will be automatically considered for the VPHi Best Poster Award that consists in a Certificate and a 350€ money prize.
Posters brought to the VPH2024 Conference will be evaluated by an independent Award Committee specifically appointed and that will evaluate the scientific content, the poster design, and Q&A.

Call for Best VPHi Thesis Award in In Silico Medicine 2024
Application deadline 31 March 2024 – for theses defended between 1 Jan 2023 and 31 Dec 2023
The goal of the Best VPHi Thesis Award in In Silico Medicine is to reward individuals for outstanding achievements during their PhD thesis based on:
- Capacity or knowledge gap
- Methodological Approach
- Research outputs
- International integration
The award consists of a prize of 1000€. The winner will be invited to give a presentation at the 2024 VPHi Conference that will be held from the 4th to 6th September 2024 in Stuttgart.
An ad hoc award committee, composed by both academia and industry representatives, will be established, chaired by Jerome Noailly (UPF) from the VPHi Young Scientists Committee.
The award candidates must be VPHi members in good standing. Only theses defended between 1/1/2023 and 31/12/2023 will be considered for the award. Each participant will have to submit:
- A 4-page curriculum vitae
- A full overview of publications (journal, conference etc.)
- A recommendation letter by the candidate’s PhD supervisor detailing why the applicant is a deserving candidate
- A 2-page research summary including: Scientific question addressed in PhD, technologies used/developed, the most important research results, novelty, impact and future steps
- The PhD diploma in pdf format (or a certificate if the diploma has not yet been delivered)
- A pdf document of the complete final PhD thesis (max 10 MB)
- Proof of VPHi membership (login in your personal area on the website and download the paid invoice)
